  • Absolutely chuffed to announce that Adam and I have bought our first home together 🎉 I’ve been saving every cent I could since I was 17 for a home and I finally made it! It’s a lovely 3 bedroom home with a great garage for the “man of the house” 😆 We fell in love with the home straight away, made an offer swiftly and it was accepted 2 days later. We get the keys in just under 6 weeks 😁 Sorry for being so quiet lately...now you know why! I hope you all stay tuned for some new content on my page. There will be plenty of focus on my continuing minimalism journey, organisation and house styling to come. I’ll still be shining my sink too - it’s brand new 😍✨Hard work and consistent saving pays off 💗 Happy days!

 Official interest rates have dropped again, and generally that’s excellent news, unless of course you have credit card debt.

It’s the great mystery of the Australian financial system. Why is it that when mortgage rates fall, deposit rates also fall, but credit card interest rates defy gravity?

The gap between mortgage interest rates and credit card interest rates used to be minimal, however this isn’t the case any longer. The standard credit card interest rate has remained high despite the longest cycle of rate cuts in Australian financial history.

TIP – take a look at your last 6 months credit card statements. If the balances owing hasn’t really moved much then you have an issue. Look at paying off the card, cutting it up and closing the account. Use a debit card for any future expenses.

There are many ways to payoff the card:

1) Win the lottery
2) Rob a bank - that is not advice
3) Organise a personal loan
4) Payout via your home loan

When we make our bed we have accomplished the first task for the next 24 hours. It instills a sense of personal pride. It also reinforces that the little things in life matter.
