  • Attention Parents: STOP 🛑 pressuring your children to lose weight and/or diet. It can lead to binge eating, obesity and depression. Read on--->>>⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A study in the Journal of Adolescent Health showed that teens, especially girls, who had been pressured by their parents to diet had increased odds of developing "extreme weight control behaviors," binge eating and obesity as young adults. Researchers also correlated parental dieting messages in adolescence with a higher likelihood of depression, as well as poor body satisfaction and self-esteem in young adulthood.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A parent's role is to express gratitude for our amazing bodies (and gifts and talents), be active with your kids, prepare meals and eat together, avoid body comparisons especially between siblings, validate signals of hunger and fullness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Celery juice isn’t so bad when you have a silly daddy to help you get it down! #thanksB
This morning I couldn’t stop smiling as I watched Indy drink her Celery juice. I also felt like I might cry. I am just so proud of her. She definitely does not have a typical 3 year olds morning routine, and sometimes that is hard (for both of us). Some mornings she is all about her juice + supplements + exercises, and other mornings I can tell she would rather not. But she still does- every morning. And every night too. The most amazing part to me is that when she is fighting it, I say to her “Indy I know this is hard work sometimes, but we have to do these things to keep you healthy ok?” And she gets it. She takes her supplements & all the things after I say that to her. She has such a sweet and understanding heart.
So what does Indy’s morning routine look like??
Wake up, brush teeth, take B12.
Then I give her a hydrating/cleansing drink like coconut water or water with lemon or lime.
Then she gets celery juice.
Wait some time, then give her supplements in applesauce.
Then we make a smoothie. This is usually the liver rescue smoothie or heavy metal detox smoothie from @medicalmedium.
Then we do her brain exercises we received from @brain.rehab. These are to improve her gross motor skills as well as strengthen the communication between Indy’s eyes & brain, to take away her strabismus (eye crossing). And they work! When we consistently do her exercises twice a day, her eye does not cross in at all 🤗. Then she eats like a healthy little champ all day, and we repeat most of our morning routine at night before bed- supplements + exercises + hydrating drink.
She is my hero, and my motivation.
Indy Llew, I am so proud of you. I LOVE YOU!! #indyllew #weloveyou #mommyshero #healthychild #happylife #downsyndrome #childhoodcancer #killinitwithsunshine #andwholefoods

  • As a mom we do everything to make sure our children are happy, healthy, and properly cared for. So when our baby is distressed and crying, all we want to do is help cure them of whatever pain they are experiencing. With my baby it was, “Silent Reflux”. This evil condition is when stomach acid causes throat discomfort, especially behind the breastbone in the middle of the trunk. This would cause my baby to arch her back so far (future human contortionist in the making) to try to ease her pain of the heartburn she was experiencing. This would also consequently tear my nipple off or what I like to call “niplash”-nip•lash [noun]-when a nursing baby decides to twist her head or arch her back away while still latched to your breast! Luckily my baby both breastfeeds and takes the bottle (pumped breast milk), so I was able to give my torn off nipples a break! But unfortunately, my daughter didn’t get a break, and eventually the arching of back wasn’t the only symptom she had. She began to refuse to drink. She would squirm, gag, cough, and choke on the milk being fed to her. I couldn’t get any milk into her. She was upset, I was upset, the whole house was upset even our dog, Piper, was upset because this meant longgg restless nights of grunting pains... No one got any sleep! I ended up buying the book “Baby Wise” and also purchasing the “Taking Cara Babies” courses (both actually worked after we figured out the underlying cause of silent reflux) to get more sleep in the house. Finally a trip to the pediatrician where he confirmed my daughter Alaia had silent reflux... Read more on how I cured my daughter’s silent reflux in my blog herbnsage.org (link in my Instagram bio and check out my YouTube channel as well and subscribe! Both links are in my Instagram bio)

  • Waking up and see a thousand people sharing plant-based meals is probably the pinnacle in my career. I love science but unless we put in practice its findings, we will not be able to make an impact in our public health. The Simple, Sano y Vegano (simple, healthy and vegan) challenge has united more than 22 countries in this movement. It is my deep rooted mission that the next generation will see a marked decrement in obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. And at the same time, we will be witness of a marked increase in happiness and wellness. Sounds fantastic? Well, not to me. And if I have you with me, it is going to be easier. Plant based world moving forward! 🌎 🌱👉🏼💥

  • It is taco Tuesday, I am about to get my guac on and got all emotional. It is amazing how the taste and smell of food can evoke so many childhood memories.. ⁣
⁣
Butter pear......because it was the name I knew as a kid takes me back to my mami's kitchen, the feeling sometimes is so strong I can feel her standing next to me sprinkling salt on the pears like she did back then (oh how I miss you mami) .⁣
My parents had 2 pear AKA avocado trees in the backyard, there was always an abundance of the most delicious tree ripened pears when in season. One thing I remembered vividly is we were never allowed to harvest off the trees, I can still hear my mami's voice telling us it will drop when it is ready to be eaten, so we always would pick them off the ground, she would always sprinkle a dash of sea salt and we would eat it with warm bread, cassava, plantain, coco yam or just by itself. ⁣
⁣
My boys love avocado today thousands of miles away from my childhood home just as much as I did, one of our favorite ways to eat pear aka avocado is a fresh guacamole. What do you call 🥑 ?⁣

Fuente: SVDERMA.

  • PerfectAmino is approved for kids! It helps with making sure that your tiny human is getting enough protein to grow healthy and strong into teen years and adulthood (especially if they are a picky eater, and don't eat much protein as it is).
Just make sure that your little one only takes 1 tablet for every 5lbs. of body weight.

  • I found my colleague post very informative and useful, especially with my son. He is not picky eater, but some things he doesn’t like eating, but when you reason it he eats everything. So I showed this post and managed to make him eat 🥝 kiwi , i said for immune system boost, so it can help those sores and bruises heal faster and surprisingly he didn’t even think and ate everything 😊 yesterday he’s eaten 🥭 mango. Thinking to convince him to eat berries 🤔😁😁 Early years healthy diet is very important thing, if you nurture good eating habits from day one, it become lifelong... #healthyeating #healthyhabits #healthychild #healthylifestyle #eatarainbowforhealth #

  • IT IS A CHOICE....
.
.

So today was a busy day for me.

I kept thinking about the answers I got during consults and I had to share my thoughts.
-
1. Healthy food is not expensive; the cost of not eating what you should is more.
-
2. Refusing to listen to the signs early will lead to more costs.
-
3. Knowledge is power. An expert with experience is not google.
-
4. Transitioning your child early saves you a lot of money in the long run.
-
5. Family history doesn’t start when the child is 10 yrs. if there are chronic diseases in the family don’t take them lightly even from day 1.
-
The genesis and mission of the Peds challenge was to educate mums who are ready and willing to learn to change the way they view food for their children.
Another goal is to answer the most pressing needs of mothers for their children;
My child had an allergy, my child refused to eat, I don’t know what to give my child and the list goes on.

With 3k you will get all these answered plus more.

Tonight is a good time to click that link in my bio or send me a DM. The PEDS challenge starts Oct 17th

  • Don’t you think just having a glass of milk is overhyped?

Do kids really need to guzzle the white stuff? Is it really a superfood? The answer is not really if its becoming a struggle to feed your child…

Although milk is a good source of protein, calcium and vitamin D, other food sources also provide these nutrients. Above all, there’s no evidence that drinking milk reduces bone fractures, and drinking too much can lead to anemia and may contribute to obesity, experts now say.

So if your family isn’t currently a big milk fan, don’t worry. You can give your little one all the nutrients he needs to grow without adding a glass of cow’s milk to his meal plan. There are many ways, believe me.

Just make sure he gets enough calcium, which is essential for bone growth and development and teeth health. Depending on the age, your toddler needs from 500 to 1,300 milligrams per day.

  • How not to infect your baby? 💉
There are things you can do to help protect your baby against the common infectious illnesses:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly. 🧼
2. Use disposable tissues.
3. Keep your baby's environment clean.
4. Avoid people who are unwell.
5. Go smoke free.
6. Look, don't touch. .
🧸And finally: if you are #breastfeeding, try to stay away from any sick people, eat healthy food, dress up warmly.
Wish you and your baby be healthy! ❤️❤️🌟
