  • Aloha from Hawaii! When you wake up at 5am you have so much time to do things in the morning 🤣 We got up and got dressed and played on the beach! We were ready to go in for lunch and naps and realized it was only 8:30am 😂. It’s been super hard adjusting to jet lag. We wake up early, but that’s okay cuz we get a lot done during the day and take more naps! Having so much fun though!

.
Any tips for sleep schedule with time change?

  • I saw this in @historicish IG account and loved it!
These are my 4 greatgrandmothers! Their backgrounds differ, though not as exciting as some people may have. They are all from the Netherlands, just like me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the left Sjoukje de Vries, from the maternal side. She was from Friesland. Born in 1884 and passed away at age 69 in 1953. She was an only child and her parents divorced. Very unusual back then, so I wonder why... She had 2 sons before going into menopause at an early age, which affected her mentally. She was a sweetheart, though.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Second one from the left is my greatgrandmother from the paternal side, Johanna Maria Boerhof. Born in 1883, passed away at age 69 in 1952. She had 7 children, of which one went into the monastery. Coincidentally, she lies buried in the "row" behind my mother.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The second woman from the right is my paternal greatgrandfather Suzanna Maria Groothuis. She was born in 1884 and passed away at the very young age of 45, in 1929. Her life was hard. She married in 1904, had 8 children in 9 years (7 girls, 1 boy) and her husband emigrated to America. She was supposed to follow with the whole family, and she did, but only lasted a year. She returned to the Netherlands with 3 daughters and died shortly after.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And last but not least there is my other maternal greatgrandmother on the far right, Trientje Buringa. She was born in 1876 and passed away at age 72 in 1948. She had 11 children of which my grandmother was the youngest. She was a sweet woman too, I have been told. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well... The most shocking fact they have in common is that none of them got very old... 🙄😱😥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I better start living...🙈🙈🙈

  • A night to celebrate my husband’s graduation. That’s what made me realize I was ready to make a change. Having two babies in two years does a lot to a body and I was unhappy in my skin. Self-conscious all the time about extra weight and skin. My clothes didn’t fit and after 2 hours trying to find something for his special night I gave up. Dragging a toddler around any longer wasn’t an option so I just had to make do with what I had. I was uncomfortable and felt embarrassed by the way I looked that night. That’s when I decided I needed to do something to change that. I have tried working out in a gym and on my own in the past and would do okay for a few days or maybe even weeks but never long term. I didn’t have a plan or the right tools to get the results I wanted so I gave up. So I decided to step of my comfort zone and I signed up for a 100 day challenge. It was a big step and I was nervous but I’m so glad I did. I’m 65 days in and I feel stronger and more confident than I have in a long time. I’m seeing changes in my body that I never expected. I have lost 5 inches between my chest, waist and hips and gained muscle in my arms and legs that I’ve never had. I already feel so much healthier and happier and know I can do more than I give myself credit for. I was actually excited about taking pictures with my family at the pumpkin patch this year! All because of 30 minutes a day, an easy family friendly meal plan and a support system that has motivated me to keep going. I’m so excited to start my next challenge in November and I’m looking for 3 people who want to join me. If you want to make a change or just want to hear more about my journey send me a message or let me know in a comment and I’ll send you more info :) #familypictures #beinthepicturemamas
