  • #TIPTUESDAY: Autumn Repotting! Just because it's October and you're feeling spooky doesn't mean it's time to murder your succulents. Keep 'em alive by giving them fresh soil and more room to grow! 🌱⠀
⠀
The 3 basic ingredients necessary to growing your succulents are water, sun, and soil. You will likely be adjusting all three in preparation for winter,* but because autumn and spring are the best times to repot your succulents, today we're focusing on soil and repotting.⠀
⠀
Any time you repot your succulents, use fresh cactus soil. Cactus soil can be found at any local garden store or online retailer, and it's perfect for succulents because it has a higher ratio of perlite, which helps the soil to drain quicker. Well-draining soil = happy succulents.⠀
⠀
4 Signs Your Succulents Need a New Pot and/or Soil:⠀
1. The succulent is larger than the pot / it's literally overflowing or tipping over.⠀
2. Roots are sticking out of the drainage holes, or they're super compacted, taking up almost all the space in the pot.⠀
3. There's a gap between the edge of the pot and the soil, almost like the soil shrunk. (If this is happening but your succulent hasn't outgrown its pot, just replace the soil - no need to get a different pot.)⠀
4. When you water, the water sits on top of the soil instead of draining through. (Like #3, this issue is more about replacing the soil and less about the size of your succulent’s container.)⠀
⠀
How to Repot Your Succulents:⠀
1. Wait until your succulent's soil is completely dry, then gently remove it from its current pot (unless it's in one of our biodegradable pots, then you don't need to remove it).⠀
2. Carefully crumble away as much of the dirt clinging to its roots as you can without causing damage/breakage.⠀
3. Choose a pot with a drainage hole, and fill it about halfway with fresh cactus soil⠀
4. Nestle your succulent and its roots into the new pot, and surround with more soil.⠀
5. Wait a few days, then water thoroughly.⠀
⠀
And that's it! For more info on repotting check out our latest blog post, link in bio!

  • Brrrrrrrrrr! Cold weather season is upon us. So, how do we keep our kids warm and safe while in the car?!! Stick to the proper use of the safe product options (all linked in my bio).
.
General rule--we want only a thin layer between the body and the harness/seatbelt. If we were to put the bulky/puffy stuff on under the harness, then we would get a false sense of tightness. We would think the harness was tight, but it wouldn't be! (Coat test how-to in stories!)
.
The bulky/puffy stuff will compress in a crash which means our kids' bodies will move more than we want them to. A tight harness/seatbelt close to the body is the best way to restrict movement and prevent injury or worse.
.
lots more details about these products in stories and saved to the “winter weather” highlight!

  • Posted @withrepost • @paulkenny_stc 💥STRENGTH COACH - DAILY DOSE💥

Many of our athletes have noticed that exercises such as Anti-Rotational Core appear on almost every program, regardless of sport. Today a track athlete asked why they perform anti-rotational exercises when the 100m sprint is in a straight line. Anti-Rotational Exercises are exercises that build stability and strength to prevent rotation. “Preventing rotation” means that your body is able to resist forces acting upon it that may try to rotate or move it in a way/direction that it can't move safely.

The cores primary function is to resist movement, not create it. Once athletes learn to resist movement at the hips & spine, they will become more efficient at transferring energy from the lower body to the upper body. During sprinting force is applied into the ground, and that force must travel from the foot through the entire body. The athlete who can create the greatest amount of force, without leaking any power out through the core, will be the fastest on the track.

To better show the affects of external forces and lack of core strength I’ve recently incorporated Anti-Rotational March into our athletes programs. This exercise (shown above) teaches athletes how to produce force into the ground while fighting unwanted movement.

I got this idea from Pete Bommarito (@bommaritos) who utilizes vests with varying attachment sites, to cause different external feedback for his athletes. Simple drill, and all I’m looking for is:
✅ Tall Torso
✅ Limited Body Movement
✅ Core Engagement
✅ Single Leg Stability
✅ Max Velocity Position

Are there any leaks in the core? Train To Get Better TODAY! 💪🏻 #MAP #movement #tiptuesday #core #pillarstrength #sprinting #antirotation #athletes #training #strength #power #speed #force #track #strengthcoach #performance #nodaysoff #onedaybetter #traintogetbettertoday

  • My fellow clean and healthy eaters, come sit with me for a second, please. I’m here to tell you, not all cinnamon were created equally. There’s the common Cassia and the “true” cinnamon Ceylon varieties.
.
You should always try getting Ceylon Cinnamon. This is where you will reap all the fabulous and proven benefits of Cinnamon.
.
Cinnamon sticks are cut from the cinnamon tree. As the cut pieces dry, they roll and form what we often see and buy as cinnamon sticks
.
I’m sure I speak for most of us when I say, “extra on the cinnamon, please” LOL.
.
Cinnamon is so powerful it can be used as a natural food preservative.
Here are some great benefits and I’m not just talking to talk these are proven.
🌸Super antioxidant
🌸Lowering Sugar
🌸Lower Cholesterol
🌸Diarrhea
🌸Indigestion
🌸Decrease rooks of heart disease
🌸Decrease insulin resistance(Pubmed)
🌸Weight Loss
There were also studies showing a decrease in the protein responsible for Alzheimer’s in animals - human studies pending.
.
So, warm your favorite milk and top with cinnamon. Relax and enjoy☺️
Always check with your doctor before starting any herbal regimen.

  • Have you thought about the educational benefits to home ownership? Neighborhoods with high rates of homeownership tend to have parents who are more invested in the community and school district. As a result, children of home owners may attend more selective colleges 🏛, achieve high grade points💯, and have better access to educational and economic opportunities 📚! Which home headquarters would you prefer?

  • Tip Tuesday

Weight loss is a long path, it has a start - the point you made firm decision to take control - maybe the day your pre op diet started - and it has a destination. When you reach your first destination you get to follow a new path.
Sometimes paths are nice smooth and predictable. Sometimes though they can turn rough, cracked, broken, and worn. Terrain becomes unsteady, uphills can occur and you may even be left with only dirt to grip your feet to.
But a path with uphills and uncertain terrain is still a path, and following it will get you to where you want to be.

When your weight stalls or goes up, trust fluctuations and plateaus are part of the journey. Your body is adjusting.
Focus on your systems - drink your water, eat your protein and build that muscle. Educate yourself on best practice science based health and nutrition and keep your mindset focussed and positive.
Don’t fall off by throwing in the towel, falling into the fad diet trap, eating mindlessly and doing other destructive behaviours.

You know what though? Walking long paths is better with someone to keep you on track and push you forward.
DM me or message below if you want support and accountability for a successful WLS journey ❤️ .

  • Living a healthy lifestyle requires sustainable changes that fit in with how you want to live and feel. A method I find to work really well is tracking my macros (carbs, protein and fat intake). It provides an effective way to reach long-term health, fitness, and body composition goals. ⁣
⁣
As your goals change, your nutritional needs change too. Counting macros allows you to experiment with what works and what doesn’t, as your needs, wants and goals evolve over time.⁣⁣ P.S, myfitnesspal is an incredible tool to start!

  • I used to come to this house 🏡 when I was in High School (my mom had joined Amway and this is where we would have our team meetings/events). I saw the FOR SALE sign and had to check it out! 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom estate home for a little over $1 million! .
I have never been big on #networkmarketing companies; I’ve tried Amway, Herbalife, AFN, Primerica, and have been to countless events for other companies. But this home is proof that anything you set your mind to, you can achieve! Previous owner of this home was a #diamond in Amway, built a very large team, and bought this amazing property. He’s now probably onto other great things.
.
It’s never a bad idea to have something else going for you aside from college and a job... something you can tie into your everyday life. @chelseahodges quit her job at Target several year ago and now makes a full time income blogging and in #juiceplus aside from being a realtor!
.
Think about how you can give value in everything you do!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then don't.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can create social media content without putting your energy into creating new content.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In fact, creating new content for every single platform is a one way ticket to burnout, my friend.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, I don't know about you, but I'm still figuring out the best way to prevent burnout.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if you've ever reached burnout, I'm willing to bet you are too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, I'm giving you permission right now: Stop trying to reinvent the wheel and start extending the life of your blog posts in a whole new way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can create killer social media content AND blog content because they can work together.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Double-tap if you agree!

  • Tip Tuesday (a day late): Being a triathlete and parent to young children takes a lot of planning. That planning increases exponentially when you travel with young children. Transition bags are not only helpful for organizing your gear for racing and training, but they also work excellently for traveling with young children. The different compartments are great for organizing changes of clothes, diaper changing supplies, snacks, toys, books, etc. If you are traveling with young kids for a race or for vacation, don’t hesitate to use your transition bag for child gear too. #tiptuesday #triathlon #instarunners #coach #playtri #parentinghack

  • Memphis, Jackson, & Nashville, Tennessee
Travel Tips:
I visited a friend in Tennessee back in 2018. Meanwhile I was there I visited Nashville, Memphis, and Jackson. Since my friend lived there, housing and transportation were covered. My expenses were food and any attractions we went to see. So overall pretty cheap trip.
•If going to Memphis: of course you need to stop by Graceland. Interesting and great history. Lovely museum and collection of Elvis Presley. Other free-things to do is of course walk around, go to the Peabody Hotel and see the march of the duck ceremony, Beale Street. Things to pay for are other museums, the zoo, places to eat, etc.
•If going to Nashville: visit the Grand Old Opry and Gayloard Opryland Hotel. If you can’t go to Greece, you can see a replica of the Parthenon in Centennial Park. There are also plantations (one being of Andrew Jackson), museums, and bars galore which host lots of aspiring country music singers. I have heard that at a few of them some famous singers stop by and play their music from time to time. Plus if you go during the spring or fall you get to see the season (I get excited to see this since Southern California doesn’t really have seasons haha). Overall, this was a time well spent. I also went back this year in July for her wedding only. Lovely venue, which I should have taken pictures to post. Oh well!

To avoid becoming an unsuspecting victim, be sure to discuss your family's eye diseases' history with your doctor.

  • Tuesday Tip: Don’t let the fear of failing (or falling) stop you! This is my 4 year old daughter heading 🧗‍♀️ to the top of the rock climbing wall at family camp. She had excitedly talked about it all week, but then changed her mind after putting on the helmet and harness. After sitting and watching everyone else for 10 minutes, she changed her mind (again) and proceeded to climb halfway up the wall like a pro. About an hour later, she wanted to try it again, and climbed to the very top!! I was so proud! .

Frequently we let our fears stop us from accomplishing our goals; we are so concerned about failing that we don’t even try. (I’m guilty of this, what about you? 🤦‍♀️) As a result, we miss out on accomplishing something great and conquering our fears! We also miss out on personal growth. Think about your own life. Is there something that you haven’t done because you’ve let fear of failure interfere? Can you change your mind, gather your courage, and start conquering your fears? I know I was scared to start this IG blog. I wondered if anyone would actually read it. I worried that my pictures weren’t good enough. But it’s been so fun and a great addition to my life! I don’t mind if I never have thousands of followers, because 447 is more than I had 4 months ago and that’s pretty awesome. 🥳

  • TIP TUESDAY | Sometimes it can seem overwhelming to add in a full pumping session on top of what you’re already doing to feed your baby. If you’re trying to increase your supply just pump when you feel like you can to get stimulation. 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there can add up. As always hang in there momma! You got this.
